The Radish Is Back is a classic Chinese children’s tale. In a cold and
snowy day, Rabbit finds two radishes in the snow. He is afraid that his good
friend Donkey may starve in this cold and snowy day, so he leaves one of the
radishes in Donkey's house. Donkey comes back, notices the radish, and leaves
the radish in his friend Sheep’s house, afraid that Sheep may starve in this
cold and snowy day. After that, Sheep does the same thing, and so does Deer. At
last, the radish turns a big circle and finally returns to Rabbit's house. What
a great friendship!
Written by Fang Yiqun, a famous Chinese writer; illustrated by Yan Gefan,
one of the earliest and best Chinese comic artists. This work was first
published in 1955 and won the first prize of the “Second National Children's
literature and Art Award”.
Horse in the Picture is adapted from a story in Pu Songling's Strange Tales
from a Liaozhai, a classic collection of short stories in the Qing Dynasty. It
tells the story of a divine horse that came to life from the painting, helped a
poor scholar to make a good living, but brought disaster to the owner of the
painting. Finally, the owner of the painting was rescued by the scholar who knew
how to repay his kindness. Rewritten by Ajia, a famous child reading promoter
and picture book researcher; illustrated by Dai Dunbang, a mater of traditional
Chniese painting, famous at home and abroad.
