Wuhan Publishing House Company Limited is the only publishing house under
the direct leadership of Wuhan Municipal People's Government. Since its
establishment in 1986, the publishing house, according to the strategy to
preserve the foothold in Wuhan, serve the readers of China and steadily promote
international cooperation in publication, has always adhered to the tenet that
is "to make the era's voices heard, to make the city's history recorded, and to
make the readers benefit from what we've published". By now Wuhan Publishing
House has already published more than 10, 000 kinds of books, with the total
output exceeding 500 million copies, covering a variety of fields, such as
politics, economics, history, science and technology, education, culture,
collation of ancient books, etc.
The books published so far have won over 400 book awards, among which there
are over 30 national prizes, including Five-One Project Award (given by the
Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee), Chinese Publishing
Government Award, Chinese Best Publications Award, China's National Books Award,
the State Prize of Excellent Dictionaries, etc. In addition, more than 20 sets
of books have been listed as major books of publishing program of China's 8th,
9th, 10th, 11th, 12th and 14th Five-Year Plan and the Three-Hundred Original
Books Publishing Project implemented by the State Administration of Press,
Publication, Radio, Film and Television of the People's Republic of China. And
many sets of books are supported by the National Publication Fund and the
National Ancient Books Editing and Publishing Fund. Besides, various books and
projects
are selected into the Press and Publication's Reform and Development
Project Library. The publishing house also owns a whole set of teaching
materials of nine-year compulsory education which has been accredited by the
Ministry of Education. These books have exerted great influences on a lot of
readers and in academia. and made contributions to socialist spiritual
civilization.
